Repair and maintenance of the Eye Clinic of Athens, which suffered serious damage from the earthquake of 09/07/1999. Restoration of the building complex in order to safely accommodated hospital functions. Interventions were performed to the load bearing structure of the building, infrared, non-load-bearing walls, ceilings, coatings, flooring and also the electromechanical installations were restored.
The Eye Clinic of Athens was established in 1843 and operates until today as a medical institution for the treatment of eye diseases. It is one of the oldest and most important hospitals in Europe due to its particular architecture, its rare ceiling paintings, its downtown location and its remarkable scientific work. In this way, the restoration and maintenance works of painted decoration were performed with particular attention, in order the building to fully acquire its old appearance and prestige.
